Our Testing Methodology

At Proxy Report, we believe in transparency and data-driven decision making. Our testing methodology is designed to provide unbiased, reliable metrics for comparing proxy providers.

Testing Framework

We run automated tests hourly from 3 global regions (North America, Europe, and Asia) to ensure comprehensive coverage. Each proxy provider is tested with identical workloads and evaluation criteria.

Metrics Measured

  • Speed: Download throughput measured in Mbps, averaged across multiple file types and sizes
  • Latency: Time to first byte (TTFB) measured in milliseconds
  • Success Rate: Percentage of successful requests vs. total requests, including both HTTP and HTTPS
  • Overall Score: Weighted composite score (scale 0-10) that factors in all metrics with emphasis on reliability

Testing Periods

We display results over three time periods to help you understand both immediate performance and long-term reliability:

  • 24 Hours: Most recent data showing current performance
  • 7 Days: Weekly average showing medium-term reliability
  • 30 Days: Monthly average showing long-term consistency

Grading System

Our letter grading system (A+ through F) is derived from the overall score and corresponds to the following ranges:

Grade Score Range Rating
A+ 9.5 - 10.0 Exceptional
A 9.0 - 9.4 Excellent
A- 8.5 - 8.9 Very Good
B+ 8.0 - 8.4 Good
B 7.5 - 7.9 Above Average
B- 7.0 - 7.4 Average
C+ 6.5 - 6.9 Fair
C 6.0 - 6.4 Below Average
D 5.0 - 5.9 Poor
F 0.0 - 4.9 Unacceptable

Testing Frequency

Our system performs tests across all providers every hour, with the results aggregated in real-time. This high-frequency testing allows us to detect performance issues quickly and provide up-to-date metrics.

Disclosure Policy

We maintain strict independence from all providers listed on our site. While we do use affiliate links for some providers, this has no impact on the testing methodology or results displayed. Our testing system is designed to be impartial and data-driven, with no manual adjustments to scores.
